    During his rookie season, the Reds lost the World Series to the New York Yankees in 6 games despite him having a .364 batting average.
    He was used as a backup in his time in St. Louis.
    He struck out in his final World Series career at-bat (1968).
    He finished in 36th place in the 1969 NL MVP voting.
    He batted left handed.
    He was a great defensive catcher.
    He was the catcher during the no-hitters of Ray Washburn (September 18, 1968) and Jim Maloney (August 19, 1965).
