    (June 1934-January 24, 2011)
    Born in Brooklyn, New York
    Birth name was David Shapiro
Known for his impressions, especially of Richard Nixon
Recorded the albums 'I Am The President' (1969), 'Radio Free Nixon' (1971), 'Richard Nixon Superstar' (1971), 'Richard Nixon: A Fantasy' (1973), 'David Frye Presents: The Great Debate' (1980) and 'Clinton: An Oral History' (1998)
While attending the University of Miami, he began performing at local strip clubs.
He said he never voted and had no interest in politics beyond providing material for his act.
He became so identified with Nixon that his career never recovered after Watergate.
He said the secret to his successful Nixon impression was, 'He's as neurotic a president as we can imagine. I'm a neurotic man and neurosis comes easy to me.'
Time magazine wrote that his Nixon impression was so uncanny, 'It makes you hope Frye never gets near the hot line.'
Although best known for his Nixon, he was no one trick pony, as his impressions ranged from Humphrey Bogart and Marlon Brando to Billy Graham and William F. Buckley.
Hubert Humphrey, another of his targets, said, 'I think Frye is terrific.... Political satire is healthy. David Frye is extremely talented at it.'
