    It was named after a Biblical cut throat.
    It is dwarfed in size by its immediate neighboring city, Minneapolis.
    It originally had the less-than-flattering name 'Pig's Eye Landing' until it was changed by a priest (1841).
    Another city, St. Peter, battled against it for the right to be Minnesota's state capital.
    It doubled in size after being made the capital, leading to widespread prostitution, gambling, murder and robberies.
    Its downtown roads are crappy due to their poor layout. Jesse Ventura remarked that they were designed by drunken Irishmen.
    All of the roads have names and none of them are numbered.
    Its police force used the radio as a way of communicating by interrupting a program, sounding a gong and giving the call to a squad, with no way of knowing if they received it (1930s).
    It is the site of the greatest flood in Minnesotan history, leaving 2,641 homeless (1952).
    Its population goes up and down.
    After the Civil War its railways helped earn it its reputation as the gateway to the Northwest.
    It is the birthplace of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Charles Schulz.
    It has an extensive skyway system where pedestrians can walk from one building to another without going outside.
    Its downtown area is 10 miles away from Minneapolis.
    It is on the Mississippi River.
    It has a reputation of being progressive.
