Premise: Families clash as a Jewish cab driver marries an Irish Catholic school teacher

With its use of religious, ethnic and generation-gap humor, it was considered derivative of All in the Family.
It drew protests from Catholic and Jewish groups over its religious humor.
The producers responded to the complaints by watering down the premise until it resembled every other sitcom.
CBS cancelled it for failing to retain enough of the audience from its lead-in, All in the Family.

Stars Baxter and Birney fell in love during filming and married shortly after the series went off the air.
It was fifth in the ratings for its one season.
It was the highest-rated series to be cancelled.
