    Regular performer on 'Arthur Godfrey and Friends' (1951-53)
    Appeared in the movie 'Let's Rock' (1958)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was fired by Godfrey because he 'lacked humility.'
    During his first Vegas appearance (1955), he threatened to slug two men who were talking while he sang. They turned out to be mobsters. (The maitre d' told him, 'You're lucky I went over there to apologize. And you're lucky they didn't kick you out of here.')
    He recorded a version of 'Send in the Clowns' that its composer, Stephen Sondheim, hated.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was discovered by Godfrey while singing with the US Navy Band.
    Godfrey fired him on air to try to humiliate him but just ended up looking like a jerk (October 19, 1953).
    Ella Fitzgerald called him 'the most underrated singer in America.'
    He has been married to Rosemary Meyer for over 50 years.
