World Leader

The Resume

    (October 15, 1894-July 7, 1965)
    Born in Kherson, Ukraine
    Birth name was Moshe Chertok
Signatory of the Israeli Declaration of Independence (1948)
First Foreign Minister of Israel (1948-56)
Second Prime Minister of Israel (1954-55)

Why he might be annoying:

During World War I, he served in the Ottoman army as an interpreter.
Despite his personal belief that retaliatory attacks by Israel were counterproductive, he authorized an attack against an Egyptian base in Gaza that killed 38 Egyptians and 8 Israelis (February 28, 1955), at the time the deadliest clash since the War of Independence.
His ministry lasted less than two years, brought down by the revelation of a false flag operation in which Egyptian Jews were recruited to plant bombs at British and American targets in Cairo and Alexandria.
He observed, 'Life in the shadow of other political leaders appears to be my fate.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He successfully lobbied the British government to establish a Jewish Brigade in the British army (1944).
He negotiated with Iran to send to Palestine a group of Polish Jewish orphans that the Soviets had deported to Tehran.
He negotiated Israel's admission to the UN (1949).
During a Knesset debate after an Israeli Defense Forces action that violated international law, he asked, 'Is Israel to be a state of law or of license?'
