Object of the game:
16 players are divided into two teams.
Each episode they are assigned the same task.
Each team chooses a project manager (team leader) who leads the team.
The team that earns the most money for the task wins.
The winning team gets a reward.
The project manager (team leader) of the losing team selects two other members of the losing team to meet with Donald Trump, Carolyn Kepcher and George Ross.
Each of the three pleads why they should continue and eventually eliminates one of them.
Why The Apprentice might be annoying
The boardroom is not real and is not on the 26th floor, it is a set.
On most game shows the winner gets a prize, here they have to work for a year.
It is one huge promotion for Donald Trump who talks in glowing terms of everything he owns.
The show teaches poor values, being that the bottom line is the ONLY thing that matters and disregards ethics, loyalty, morality and honesty.
The show is based on short term successes rather than a long term business plan.
How does someone get fired from a job interview?
The show's ratings drop dramatically when taken out of the coveted NBC Thursday 9 PM spot.
Donald Trump appears to be a sexist. In the first ten episodes, he only fired males when he was not given the choice of firing a female.
When it was men vs. women, the women won all four competitions. The woman relied on their sexual charms.
Donald Trump tried to trademark the phrase 'You're Fired.'
The boardroom elimination scenes can take hours but are reduced to only minutes for the show.
Why The Apprentice might not be annoying
ABC turned down the show. NBC turned it into a ratings bonanza.
The project managers (team leaders) are held accountable for the results of their team.
This is a great learning tool that can be applied to your own personal business practices.
There are moments of creative genius.
All the competitors seem to be on the road to successful careers.
The show spun off 'Apprentice 2' and sale of 'You're Fired!' t-shirts.
