The couple engaged in loud public spats.
She twice became pregnant from Amedeo without being married.
Just after his death, while nine months pregnant, she jumped from a fifth story window, killing herself and the unborn child.

She was renowned for her beauty.
Her Catholic family objected to her relationship with Amedeo because he was Jewish.
She won acclaim as an artist in her own right decades after her death.
