Why he might be annoying
He was a pacifist who was born on Armistice (now Veteran's) Day.
He smoked Pall Mall cigarettes because he said they are a classy way to commit suicide.
He was a socialist in the tradition of Eugene Debs.
He disliked technology and the Internet, saying: 'What I've said about the computer revolution is that it's allowed white collar criminals to do what the Mob would have loved to do- put a pawn shop and a loan shark in every home!'
His epitaph for the 20th century is: 'The good Earth- we could have saved it, but we were too damn cheap and lazy.'
According to Kevin Murphy, he turned down a dinner invitation from the Mystery Science Theater 3000 crew because he claimed he was busy. Later that night, they saw him eating alone in the same restaurant.
He disliked the film adaptation of 'Happy Birthday, Wanda June,' and wanted his name removed from the credits.
Why he might not be annoying
He attended Cornell University and the University of Chicago.
He was a prisoner of war in Dresden, Germany when it was fire-bombed during World War II.
His books are witty, humorous and satirical.
He poked fun at himself through his alter-ego Kilgore Trout.
He adopted his sister's three children after both she and her husband died within days of each other.
He was named Humanist of the Year by the American Humanist Association (1992).
'Slaughterhouse-Five' ranked #18 on Modern Library’s Top 100 Novels of the 20th Century.
