Why he might be annoying:

He dropped out of school at 14, because his parents could not afford to send him.
His work rarely gathered massed critic appeal. Many critics described his work as mundane and rubbish.
He edited a magazine named 'Bus and Truck.'
He was slow in producing his books, taking an average of three years to complete each.
His first published article was called 'Pee-wee Is Going Home' (April 17, 1944).
He lived in California for four years before moving to the Bahamas in 1969.

Why he might not be annoying:

He suffered a stroke (September 2004) and died two months later, due to another stroke.
He died in his sleep.
He was a pilot with the RAF during World War II.
He sold over 170 million books.
He would do extensive research and pay attention to details to make his novels realistic.
After he died in his sleep, his wife, Sheila, said: 'It is obviously a shock to wake up to, but it was peaceful.'
His screenplay 'Flight Into Danger' was spoofed in 'Airplane.'
He held dual British-Canadian citizenship.
He maintained his Canadian citizenship saying 'a Canadian passport is one of the world's most useful ones to hold. It will take you to a lot of countries a U.S. passport won't.'
