He married Marilyn Mayfield for six months (1953).
He wrote six novels in which the Earth ends, each in a different way.

He left the drudgery on England for Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon, 1956).
He was an RAF pilot during World War II.
After a short marriage, he said: 'It was sufficient proof that I wasn't the marrying type, although I think everybody should marry once.'
He had post polio syndrome, little is known about it and as he says, very few polio victims survived to get this disorder.
He was warm, intellectual and a technocrat.
He wrote in his autobiography: 'It may be that our role on this planet is not to worship God, but to create him.'
