Why he might be annoying
Warner Brothers changed his birthday from January 23, 1899 to December 25, 1900, to make him appear younger and take advantage of a Christmas birthday.
He wore a toupee.
Warner Brothers suspended him eleven times for refusing to make their films.
Honoring her famous line to him in 'To Have and Have Not,' 'You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and... blow.' His widow Lauren Bacall put a gold whistle in his coffin.
He was a heavy smoker (five packs of Chesterfields a day) and died of lung cancer at 58 years old (1957).
There are many fictional accounts about his famous lip snarl, mostly that it came during World War I, but it actually was the inept stitching by a doctor who removed a splinter lodged in his lip.
He was divorced three times and remarried within months of each divorce.
It is believed his last words were: 'I should never have switched from scotch to martinis.'
Why he might not be annoying
He was a great chess player and actually made extra money playing for stakes.
Despite his tough guy demeanor, his father was a doctor and he went to private schools.
He ranked #9 in Empire Magazine's Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time.
