Why he might be annoying:

He appeared in 'Spartacus' (1960) as a Roman soldier who has his right arm (a prosthetic) cut off by Kirk Douglas, but the scene was cut because the censors felt it was too gory.
His hiring for 'The Fugitive' had less to do with his acting talents than his missing arm.
After 'The Fugitive,' he had trouble finding roles.

Why he might not be annoying:

In the 1920s, he was returning from his job as a dancer for Florenz Ziegfeld when he was jumped by five muggers. He fought them off single-handedly.
While serving with the US Navy in World War II, he was burned so badly fighting a shipboard fire that his right arm had to be amputated above the elbow.
He was Burt Lancaster's stand-in for several movies.
He was a successful acting teacher.
