Why they might be annoying
As a six man tag team they weren't fan favorites.
Most fans are unaware of their origins.
NWA turned them into good guys, which the fans found hard to accept. So they quickly put them back as villains.
In the AWA, Condrey replaced Lane.
Lane then teamed with Randy Rose as The 'Original' Midnight Express to feud with the Eaton and Lane.
These two Midnight Express teams not only confused the fans but quickly became uninteresting.
In the 1990's, the WWE formed Bob Holly and Bart Gunn as The 'New' Midnight Express.
The 'New' Midnight Express was an utter failure.
When The Midnight Express broke up into individual wrestlers, their career basically ended.
Why they might not be annoying
They were innovative and influenced future tag teams.
They were able to withstand changes in team membership without much noticeable difference.
Bobby Eaton was ranked #92 in Total Wrestling Magazine's 100 Greatest Heel's of All-Time.
They were a top villain team in the Mid-South territory.
They were the perfect foil to feud with the Rock N Roll Express.
They were selected PWI Tag Team of the Year (1987).
