    He was suspended by Major League Baseball after he knew about a sign-stealing scheme within the organization and did nothing about it.
    He was fired by the Astros hours after being suspended for one year by MLB for his role in the scandal (January 13, 2020).

    He worked as an engineer management consultant, prior to his appointment in the Cardinals front office.
    He oversaw the Cardinals farm system, which developed the majority of the core for the 2011 World Series championship team.
    Prior to the cheating scandal, he was credited with assembling the core of the Astros team that became a dominant powerhouse in the late 2010's.
    He primarily assembled the core of the Astros World Series championship team.
    In an ironic turn of events, he was part of another scandal when his email account with the Astros got hacked by a member of the Cardinals organization (2013).
