    Head coach and general manager for the Toronto Maple Leafs (1958-69, 1979-81) and the Buffalo Sabres (1970-72)

Why he might be annoying:

    As an active player, he never played in an NHL game.
    He had a cantankerous temper and often argued with players and staff.
    As a general manager, he had a habit of trading for players way past their primes.
    His second stint with the Leafs proved to be disastrous as he frequently butted heads with Harold Ballard.
    He drafted an imaginary player from Japan in protest of the draft proceedings.
    He traded Lanny McDonald to Colorado out of spite of Darryl Sittler.

    He served in the armed forces.
    He won four Stanley Cups during the 1960's.
    He was the first head coach and general manager of the Buffalo Sabres franchise.
    He drafted Gilbert Perreault with the franchise's first pick.
