Why she might be annoying:

Frank’s mother, Dolly, did not approve of her, asking him ‘Aren’t there enough whores around?’
She had a distant (at best) relation with Frank’s children.
Daughter Nancy said that Barbara did not bother to call Frank’s children when the end was near, so the children missed the chance to be with their father when he died.
Since Frank’s death, she and his daughters Nancy and Tina have communicated solely through their lawyers.
A reviewer of her memoir said, ‘As name-droppers go, Barbara is first-class.’.

Why she might not be annoying:

Frank had his attorney deliver a prenuptial agreement to her on the morning of their wedding. (She signed, but understated ‘I wasn’t so happy about the timing.’)
She was often the only person who could calm Frank down when he went on a bender.
She had to ask Frank to remove a painting of Mia Farrow from their master bedroom.
She convinced a reluctant Frank to cover ‘New York, New York,’ which became one of his signature songs.
She wrote, ‘Several people asked me how I managed to calm Frank down after he'd been such a hell-raiser. My answer was 'Timing.' He was sixty years old when we married; he'd been everywhere, done everything, and met everyone ... In truth, he was ready to settle down.’
Frank died in her arms.
