Defensive backs coach for the Los Angeles Express (1985), Pittsburgh Steelers (1989-91) and the San Diego Chargers (1992-93)
Defensive co-ordinator for the Los Angeles Raiders (1994-95) and the New York Giants (1997-2001)
Head coach for the Carolina Panthers (2002-10) and the Denver Broncos

He never played in an NFL game.
His tenure as the Panthers head coach was plagued with inconsistency.
His teams are frequently prone to slow starts.
His teams have frequently been plagued with scandals.
He is known to have a fiery temper.

He guided the Panthers to the franchise's first Super Bowl appearance, two years after the team went 1-15.
He is a defensive mastermind.
He was instrumental in the development of Jason Sehorn and Michael Strahan in New York.
He gave both Rodney Peete and Jake Delhomme a second chance of being an NFL starting quarterback.
