Why he might be annoying
He once threatened to kill then-Massachusetts coach John Calipari during a post game news conference.
In a loss to Xavier last March, he said 'If he had a baseball bat, he'd beat some of his big men.'
He was booed off stage during a Philadelphia Sports writers dinner after rambling about the war in Iraq and President Bush.
He scolded the people of Ohio, the state that helped Bush win the election with 20 electoral votes, by saying, 'It's not the people I hate, it's what they did that I hate.'
During a game against St. Joseph's University he put one of his players in the game for the sole purpose of injuring an opposing player (February 22, 2005).
He imposed a one game suspension on himself, but Temple University suspended him for the rest of the regular season and playoffs.
Why he might not be annoying
He is seen as a father figure to the players he's recruited from inner-city and poor schools.
He was the first African American College Basketball coach to win 700 games.
