Created for TV commercials by Geico’s ad company, the Martin Agency in Richmond, Virginia
Why he might be annoying
He came about because 'GEICO' was often mispronounced as 'gecko.'
He tries to get people to dump their insurance companies for his.
He doesn't have a name.
He speaks in a proper English accent.
He has handed over pitch duties to some dorky looking dude.
Why he might not be annoying
In one commercial a fan asked him to dance 'the robot,' and he obliges.
The dork was holding him in another commercial, gave a 'thumbs-up' sign, and dropped him.
Gidget, the former Taco Bell spokes dog, made a guest appearance in one of his commercials.
Gidget uttering the immortal line, 'Oh great, a talking gecko!'
He is so popular he makes special appearances at community events around the U.S.
Though he's a lizard he doesn't hang around lounges.
