TV Series
HBO series set in ancient Rome
    Won ten Emmy Awards
Covers the period of 52 BC to 30 BC
Actors: Kevin McKidd as Lucius Vorenus, Ray Stevenson as Titus Pullo, James Purefoy as Mark Antony, with Max Pirkis and Simon Woods as Gaius Octavian and Ciaran Hinds as Julius Caesar
Actresses: Polly Walker as Atia, Kerry Condon as Octavia, Lyndsey Marshall as Cleopatra, Lindsay Duncan as Servilia and Indira Varma as Niobe
Simultaneously follows the stories of two Roman legionaries and their adventures and the intrigues of Roman politics in the first century BC
It had major historical inaccuracies in.
Its ten Emmy wins were in relatively minor categories like; makeup, hairstyling, title sequence, etc.
It only ran for two years, reportedly due to production costs.
Some of the inter-relationships between the two storylines were quite contrived.
It was reportedly the most expensive TV series of all time to produce.
It covered a 22 year time period, but none of the characters showed any sign of aging, although several of the child actors were replaced by adults.
For a full frontal nude scene, James Purefoy was reportedly digitally, uh, enhanced.
    The sex/violence/profanity was way overdone.
It was, at times, a gorgeous show to look at.
It was a true epic in the classical sense of the term.
It had the largest sets ever built for a television series.
The producers put a great deal of effort into portraying the physical details of the time period; weapons, costumes, tools, etc., correctly.
    The cast was outstanding.
    The writing was superb.
    It got very high ratings.
