Why he might be annoying:

He had less than a year of formal education.
He ran away from home at fourteen to join the circus as a clown and acrobat.
He took up wrestling after being stranded in America when the circus he was touring with went bust.
Although he was from the working class, he was promoted with a nobility gimmick.

He used the skills he picked up in the circus as a wrestler, such as his signature move -- a somersault off the top rope.
He was involved in wrestling for 47 years as a wrestler, manager and trainer.
Late in life, he lost use of his legs and developed Alzheimer’s disease.
