Why Sega CD/Mega CD might be annoying
It was manufactured to compete against NEC's PCEngine CD player.
It took a long time to develop games because Sega was slow in providing developing kits to third parties.
Early released games were low quality.
Developers concentrated more on utilizing full motion graphics than game play.
Many of the games were just slightly updated versions of older games.
They removed the game 'Night Trap' from retail stores due to fear of protests that it was way too violent.
Sega produced just one 3D game for the system, Silpheed (1993).
The Mega CD and Sega CD are not compatible, thus games played on one systems can not be played on the other.
The CD loaded games slower than the older cartridges.
Why Sega CD/Mega CD might not be annoying
The games took advantage of a high tech audio system.
They redesigned the console in 1993 to make the CD tray a top loader. It brought the price down and made the console look better.
They again redesigned the system with the CD being built in (March 1994).
Because of the protest of violence in their games, Sega was the first to use a game rating system.
An optional accessory could be purchased to make the Mega and Sega CD systems play foreign game.
The original 50,000 units delivered to America, sold out in three weeks.
