Why he might be annoying
He dissolved the National Assembly for no apparent reason (April 21, 1997).

He has been accused of overseeing illegal monetary contributions to his political party.
He would be in jail if it were not for a French law that protects the president from the magistracy.
Despite the wishes of his people, he continued to test nuclear weapons in French Polynesia.
He was elected promising jobs and tax cuts, but has not followed up on these promises.
He constantly implies that France is morally superior to the United States.
His government sold two nuclear reactors to Iraq (these were later destroyed by Israeli forces).
His opposition to the war in Iraq may have originated from a deal granting French oil companies a 23% share of Iraqi oil and various other privileges.
Under his administration, France has Europe's highest unemployment rate.
The thing he likes most about America is junk food.
His administration alienated many Americans causing them to boycott France.

He negotiated a truce during the worker strikes of 1968.
He served in the military as a cavalry officer (1954-1957).
He escaped an assassination, when a man with a gun in a guitar case fired at his presidential motorcade (July 14, 2002).
