Why he might be annoying
Even as a youngster, he was delinquent.
He raped a girl when he was thirteen.
He dropped out of school at sixteen years old.
He deserted the U.S. Navy after five months (1924).
He was arrested for stealing 41 chickens (1924).
He tried to rob a local grocer with a gun, and was caught and sentence with 10 to 20 years in prison (1924).
He was paroled in 1933, then began a short-lived but infamous career as a bank robber.
He was shot dead by the F.B.I. after exiting the Biograph Theater (July 22, 1934).
Why he might not be annoying
He was a pseudo-hero among Americans.
When he robbed the banks, he destroyed mortgage records, helping depression weary Americans escape their bank debts.
His mother died of a stroke when he was three.
He was raised by his father and 16 year old sister.
He was left handed.
