The Resume
(June 3, 2002-January 1, 2004)
Aired on the Game Show Network
Hosted by Kennedy
Premise: Three teams compete for variable cash prizes — and how to divide the final stash (two ‘friend’ votes divide the pot equally; two ‘foe’ votes result in nothing; a split vote awards the ‘foe’ the entire pot)
Why Friend or Foe? might be annoying
The appeal of the game lay in two elements: the contestants’ scandalous back stories and in the ‘prisoners’ dilemma’ at the end of each round.
More often than not, after stating a case as to why the other should vote ‘friend,’ both sides would vote ‘foe’ (some of which were painfully predictable).
Mark L. Walberg hosted the April Fool’s edition — the last original episode.
Why Friend or Foe? might not be annoying
A Hallowe’en edition featured forced pairings between members who hated each other’s guts (and Kennedy dressed as a grisly chambermaid).
Some teams voted ‘friend’ on both sides.
The lighting improved in the second season (even if Kennedy’s sadistic disposition didn’t).
