He refuses to relinquish power and even sabotages his apparent successors, at the risk of hurting his business interests.
Former successor, HBO executive Frank Bondi, left the fold.
He said he would not renew the contract of current successor, Mel Karmazin.
He does not like it when younger executives garner more attention than him.

He has built a huge media conglomerate.
Although nearly 80, he refuses to retire.
He was a member of the US Military intelligence during WW II.
He graduated first in his class at Boston Latin School (1944).
He received a degree from Harvard in only 2½ years of study.
He said: 'Success isn't built on success; it's built on failure, frustration and sometimes catastrophe.'
He barely escaped a hotel fire, where he was burned on over 50% of his body, and recovered better than doctors expected (1979).
He was condemned for acquiring Blockbuster for $8 Billion, but was able to turn that disaster into a success by moving into the company's headquarters and returning the video rental store back into a money maker (1997).
