Why he might be annoying
In Beirut, he was responsible for the bombings of the US Embassy (April 18, 1983; 63 dead), the US Marine barracks (October 23, 1983; 241 dead) and the French paratrooper barracks (October 23, 1983; 58 dead).
He participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 847 (June 13, 1985) in which a US Navy diver was shot and dumped onto the tarmac.
He was behind numerous kidnappings of Westerners in Beirut during the 1980s.
In Buenos Aires, he masterminded the bombings of the Israeli embassy (March 17, 1992), killing 29, and the AMIA Building (July 18, 1984), killing 86.
US plans to capture him in France (1986) were thwarted by French officials refusing to detain him.
Why he might not be annoying
Hostage David Jacobson described him as 'tall, slender, well-dressed, and handsome [with] penetrating eyes.'
He was killed by a car bomb.
Former hostage Terry Anderson said, 'To hear that his career has finally ended is a good thing, and it's appropriate that he goes up in a car bomb.'
