Why he might be annoying
After purchasing the Den Horen Brewery, he renamed it after himself (1717).
His target customers were university students in the town of Leuven.
'Anno 1366' is proudly placed on Stella Artois labels, which can be misinterpreted to mean 'Annoying since 1366.'
When his company opened a new brewery in 1926, his beer was reintroduced as a Christmas brew.
Why he might not be annoying
He was selected for the highly coveted position of Master Brewer of Den Horen (June 13, 1708)
He took over a brewery that existed since 1366.
His historic brewery was destroyed by artillery during WW I (1918).
He kept the business in the family (although it is currently owned by Interbrew - 1987).
His company holds The Stella Artois Championships in London, England (since 1979).
