Why he might be annoying:

He had a stammer.
He never wanted to be King.
When he heard he was to be King, he was quoted as saying: 'Oh, God No!'
He married Queen Mother (1923), who was widow for fifty years.

Why he might not be annoying:

He over came his stammer through therapy.
He succeed brother, Edward VIII, who was abdicated (December 11, 1936).
He served in World War I.
He stayed in Buckingham Palace during the bomb raids and ate the same rations as the general public.
He made extensive tours of war torn England, offering moral support.
The exhaustive schedule he kept during the war caused him serious health problems, which hastened his death at age 57.
He is left handed.
