Monarch

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He went from being one of France's most popular kings to one of its least popular.
    He was indecisive.
The Marquis d'Argenson wrote that Louis 'said little and thought not at all.'
During his reign, France lost most of its possessions in the Americas and India.
His private brothel, the Parc du Cerfs, reportedly cost 200,000 pounds annually.

Why he might not be annoying:

At five he lost his parents and his older brother during a smallpox epidemic.
He survived being stabbed between the ribs by Robert Damiens (January 5, 1757).
He was so disgusted by the punishment of drawing and quartering inflicted on his would-be assassin that he granted a pension to the man's family.
His reign was considered the peak of French architecture and interior design.
