Began providing security for the President of the United States following the assassination of William McKinley

Why United States Secret Service might be annoying:

With their sunglasses and dark suits, they look like they're straight out of a 'Men In Black' film.
Considering you can find so much information on the services they provide, their services really aren't that secret.
It suffered both image and morale setbacks when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
An international scandal was created when several agents sought no-so-secret services from prostitutes in Colombia (April 2012).
It's rumored that some Secret Service agents helped certain Presidents hide their extramarital affairs from their wives.
Every threat against the President is treated with the same degree of severity, even if it's coming from and idiot like Ted Nugent.

Why United States Secret Service might not be annoying:

They're willing to put their lives on the line to protect elected officials.
In 2008, their fraud investigations helped to prevent more than $12 billion worth of potential losses.
That same year, 98% of the cases they helped investigate resulted in criminal convictions.
They offer tips on how to protect yourself from credit card fraud and identity theft.
They partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of America, as well as the Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
The Secret Service provides exciting storylines for both film ('In The Line of Fire') and television ('24').
