    Other novels included ‘Target Practice’ (1974) and ‘Confessions of a Homing Pigeon’ (1981)
    Directed the films ‘Time After Time’ (1979), ‘Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan’ (1982), ‘The Day After’ (TV movie, 1983), ‘Volunteers’ (1985), and ‘Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country’ (1991)
    Wrote screenplays for ‘Invasion of the Bee Girls’ (1973), ‘The Night That Panicked America’ (TV movie, 1975), ‘Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home’ (1986), ‘Sommersby’ (1993), ‘Prince of Egypt’ (1999), ‘The Human Stain’ (2003), and the TV miniseries ‘Houdini’ (2014)

Why he might be annoying:

    He disliked the rewrites done to his script for ‘Invasion of the Bee Girls’ and considered taking his name off the film, but his agent convinced him that, as a Hollywood newcomer, he could not afford to throw away credits.
    He said he was never a Star Trek fan and directed ‘Wrath of Khan’ only because he felt the show ‘had never realized its potential.’
    He stated he would not work on another Star Trek project, only to come back for two more movies and the first season of ‘Star Trek: Discovery.’

Why he might not be annoying:

    ‘The Seven Per Cent Solution’ stayed on the New York Times best-sellers list for 40 weeks and won the Golden Dagger Award for best mystery novel from the Crime Writers Association.
    He and producer Harve Bennett were credited with revitalizing the Star Trek franchise after the cost overruns and mixed reviews of ‘Star Trek: The Motion Picture.’
    ’The Day After’ was the most watched TV movie ever in the US (100 million viewers; a 62% audience share).
    Ronald Reagan wrote in his memoirs that ‘The Day After’ influenced his decision to negotiate the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty with Mikhail Gorbachev.
