    Birth name is Alfred Landon
    Governor of Kansas (1933-1937)
    Republican presidential candidate (1936)
    Only carried the states of Maine and Vermont during the election (1936)

Why he might be annoying:

    His name inevitably makes many think of the Alf puppet.
    He was opposed to labor unions.
    He was a lieutenant in chemical warfare during World War I.
    During his presidential run, he rarely left his front porch to campaign.
    He ran against Franklin Roosevelt, even though he actually respected him.
    His biggest claim to fame is losing to FDR (1936).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was humble.
    He worked for Theodore Roosevelt's presidential campaign (1912).
    He balanced the Kansas state budget.
    He was one of the few Republican leaders to support FDR's New Deal programs.
    He wasn't afraid to go against his party on issues he felt strongly about.
