Hockey Coach
    (July 25, 1945- )
    Born in Watertown, Massachusetts
Head coach for the men's ice hockey teams at Clarkson University (1972-79), Bowling Green University (1979-94) and Boston College
    NCAA Men's Hockey national champion (1984, 2001, 2008, 2010, 2012)

Hockey East Coach of the Year (2004, 2011, 2014, 2018)
Hockey Hall of Fame inductee (2019)
He was one of ten children born into his family.
He opted not to pursue a professional playing career.
He doesn't receive a lot of recognition as a result of the lack of exposure to college hockey.
He faced criticism from older hockey pundits, who felt he was sticking around the game longer then he should.
His coaching style was initially described as being antiquated at the turn of the century.
He was an alumnus of Boston College and elected to take the coaching job, to help restore the men's hockey program.
He is the winningest coach in the history of NCAA men's hockey.
He proved his critics wrong and was willing to adapt to the times, guiding Boston College to four titles in the 21st century.
He was described as being a coach, who genuinely cares about his players.
Many of his supporters say his lack of recognition is a result of the Canadian major junior bias towards hockey coverage when it comes to hockey prospects.
