(July 25, 1971- )
Attended Ferrum Junior College
Pitcher for the Houston Astros (1995-2003), Philadelphia Phillies (2004-2006) and NY Mets (2006- )
Why he might be annoying
He has a thick Southern accent.
He chews tobacco.
In addition to chewing tobacco, he always keeps a can of Copenhagen in his back pocket when on the mound, even though he usually only pitches one inning per game.
He had no idea who performed his Houston Astros theme song, Metallica's 'Enter Sandman,' when asked by Dan Patrick.
He complained about Houston's management being too cheap and not willing-enough to make moves that would help Houston advance themselves in the playoffs, which lead to him being traded to the Philadelphia Phillies (November 3, 2003).
A few months later, Houston wound up signing Andy Pettitte and Roger Clemens (2004).
He missed out on the chance to close games for Andy Pettitte and Roger Clemens.
He makes $8 million dollars per year, typically just to pitch the 9th and final inning of a game.
Why he might not be annoying
He can throw a fastball into the triple digits.
While with the Houston Astros, he would come out to Metallica's 'Enter Sandman.'
As of the end of the 2003 season, he had 695 strike outs in 504 innings pitched.
Although he only stands at 5'10 and weighs 190 lbs., he is one of the most feared men in all of baseball.
