He was left handed.
He is generally considered to be the brightest, most clever and sophisticated lyric writer who ever lived.
His legs were severely injured in a horse riding accident. This gave him great pain for the last 25 years of his life, eventually leading to one leg being amputated.
He wrote the lyric: 'Though she knows cause she has travelled miles she can always LAY em in the isles.'
He threw lavish parties at his own expense, even inviting the chorus of shows to them.
He went to Paris and partied for three years.
