Consisted of 11 seceded U.S. states (South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia , Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina) and splinter governments from Kentucky and Missouri
President in its entirety was Jefferson Davis
Capital was Montgomery, Alabama (February 4-May 29, 1861) and Richmond, Virginia (May 29, 1861-April 3, 1865)

Why Confederate States of America might be annoying:

It was formed as an excuse that Southern states should have more rights, but it was a blanket to protect the institution of slavery and racism.
Its existence led to a civil war that lasted four years and cost nearly 600,000 lives.
Most of its duration was spent fighting in the American Civil War.
Its soldiers were referred to as `Johnny Rebs.'
It tried to get European countries (especially France!) to formally recognize them, but it was unsuccessful.
When Richmond got bombarded with Union troops, the government abandoned the town in hopes to put a capital someplace else. Robert E. Lee surrendered before that happened.
To this day, several Southerners, truckers, and hate groups continue to hold reverence with its old `Southern Cross' flag (you lost, get over it!!).
That flag ticks off African Americans.
There are a token number in former Confederate states who think the South/Confederacy will rise again, and there are a few web sites that advocate secession.
Several of its Civil War veterans got together and formed the Ku Klux Klan.

Why Confederate States of America might not be annoying:

Without the Confederacy, there would be no Civil War reenactments!
Though its constitution protected slavery, it banned the importation of slaves from outside the Confederacy.
Its constitution allowed the president to only serve one six-year term.
Despite being outnumbered in the Civil War, it gave the Union a run for its money.
The car from `The Dukes of Hazzard' incorporated Confederate symbols in that it was named the `General Lee' and a Southern Cross flag was painted on the top.
Many Southerners today consider it a symbol of Southern determination, spirit and pride.
Fortunately, all of its states ended their nonsense and rejoined the United States.
