Why he might be annoying
He sent troops to help North Korea fight against the U.N. peacekeepers (1950).
U.N. brought sanctions against China as being the aggressor in Korea, and thus allowing Taiwan to remain as China's representative in the U.N.
Despite signing a friendship agreement with the U.S.S.R., there were many border disputes.
He abolished private ownership and forced his population to farm.
He controlled the media and lives of the populace, keeping them isolated from the world.
He purged the government of political enemies and had them killed.
He attacked India (1962), claiming some of their land belonged to China.
He attacked Tibet forcing the Dalai Lama to flee.
He intitiated the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution, which were social programs that killed off many of China's intellectuals and caused famine.
His body is preserved and on display in a massive shrine.
Why he might not be annoying
He was a hero to the peasants of China.
He stayed in power for over 25 years (1949-76).
He is one of Time Magazine's 100 greatest people of the century.
