Why he might be annoying
His last name might be hard to pronounce.
He has a weird style of bass-playing and it almost looks like he's in pain when he plays (see picture).
One of his earlier bands, Infectious Grooves, had a cult following.
He appeared on MTV's 'Icon,' a tribute to Metallica, even though he had only been in the band for several months.
Some earlier Metallica fans hate their new sound and don't think the new line-up will be successful in the future.
Why he might not be annoying
The official Suicidal Tendencies web site wished him good luck with his new gig as Metallica's bassist, even though he hadn't been with the band for almost 10 years.
Before he joined Metallica, all the members knew him from the early 90s and respected his work in previous bands.
They also like him because his bass-playing sounds a lot like Cliff Burton's style, Metallica's early bassist.
One of his hobbies is taking his mom out for lunch.
He is well-respected for his earlier projects and is considered as one of the greatest bassists of the 90s.
