Politician

The Resume

    (May 14, 1972- )
    Born in Clearwater, Florida
Deputy White House Chief of Staff (September 6-December 6, 2017)
    Secretary of Homeland Security (December 6, 2017-April 10, 2019)

Why she might be annoying:

When she was a deputy to White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly, she clashed with White House staffers who viewed her as a humorless scold.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) staffers complained about her micromanaging, such as getting testy over misspellings in emails.
When Senator Patrick Leahy asked her if the population of Norway was predominantly white, she replied, ‘I actually do not know that, sir.’
She claimed to be unaware of the conclusion by US intelligence agencies that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to benefit Donald Trump.
She responded to criticism of the Trump administration’s policy of separating children from their parents when families of illegal immigrants are arrested at the border by denying that the policy existed – contradicting other cabinet members, her department’s own web page, and reality (June, 2018).

Why she might not be annoying:

While working as Deputy White House Chief of Staff, she continue putting in long hours while suffering a respiratory illness, even after coughing hard enough to crack a rib.
She did correctly guess about Norway’s whiteness, ‘I imagine that is the case.’
She refused a request by Trump advisor Stephen Miller to issue a statement that people whose parents were immigrants are more likely to commit acts of terrorism, noting that there was no evidence to substantiate the claim.
She had to put up with Trump complaining to Kelly in her presence, ‘Nobody likes her.’
She has complained to DHS staffers that Trump does not understand the nuances of immigration law.
