The Resume

    (September 3, 1924-February 15, 2014)
    Born in Rochester, New York
Portrayed Ralph Monroe on Green Acres (1965-71)
Appeared in the films 'Pollyanna' (1960), 'Come Blow Your Horn' (1963), 'The St. Valentine's Day Massacre' (1967) and 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' (1983)

Why she might be annoying:

She appeared in four Broadway plays, none of which lasted longer than a month.
She compared leaving the stage for TV to 'going from Mount Olympus to Filene’s Basement.' (Although she noted, 'But I couldn’t believe what they paid me.')
She was typecast as a romance-starved spinster or wallflower.
She said, 'To be remembered for Ralph kind of upsets me — only in the sense that it was so easy and undemanding.'

Why she might not be annoying:

Her ambivalence about 'Green Acres' may have been fueled by the fact that she did not receive royalties from its reruns and DVD sales.
She appeared in four episodes of Bewitched as Gladys Kravitz's sister Harriet to fill in the gap between the cancer death of Alice Pearce (the original Gladys) and the hiring of Sandra Gould as her replacement (1966).
She settled in Maine for several decades, having fallen in love with the state while touring in summer stock.
She made her last public appearance at the funeral of Eddie Albert, along with fellow 'Green Acres' alumni Frank Cady and Sid Melton.
