Why he might be annoying:

During his second invasion of Rome, he forced the Romans to accept a puppet nobleman of his liking as the new emperor.
A year later, he deposed and imprisoned that puppet for not doing exactly what he wanted.
When he invaded the third time, he dressed up in Roman clothes, sat in the Imperial throne, forced thousands of locals to kneel before him, and made Roman athletes compete in gladiatorial contests for the amusement of the invaders.
When he died, the Roman slaves that were made to bury his body were later killed, in order to keep his resting place a secret.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the first 'barbarian' to successfully conquer Rome.
His family were refugees fleeing the expanding Hun empire.
He learned a good deal about Italian geography during his youth as a Roman mercenary, which gave him an advantage in conquering Rome.
A storm and a deadly disease interfered with his intentions of conquering Sicily and North Africa.
His conquests weakened Rome severely, and many historians agree that his invasion of Rome symbolized the unofficial end of the Western Roman Empire.
