Actor
    (September 22, 1936- )
    Born in Bensonhurst, New York
Film credits include ‘Rocket Attack USA,’ ‘They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?’ ‘History of the World Part I,’ ‘Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment,’ ‘Police Academy 3: Back in Training,’ ‘How Stella Got Her Groove Back’ and various made for TV movies and guest spots
He worked as an automatic telephone system salesman between casting calls.
Never assume that claiming to be an opening act at a club in the area exempts your comedy team from paying for your lunch at the bar (‘some jobs you have to save up for!’).
He was a pothead (which helped him bond with Huntz Hall when they were filming The Chicago Teddy Bears).
He sued Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borstein for some $2 million for copyright infringement… over his magic act.
Oh, that magic act? He would hum ‘Fine and Dandy’ while pretending to be handcuffed or hold a handkerchief.
His name would be the inspiration for the comedy team that involved him, Rodney Dangerfield, Joseph Bologna, and Rudy De Luca (‘Art Supplies!’).
He was a fan of the East Side Kids (yes, a Dead End Kids reincarnation of which Hall was a member).
Never mind, his do-nothing magic act scored him stints on The Tonight Show, among other shows through the 1970s.
The one-man show ‘Jews Don’t Belong on Ladders… an Accidental Comedy’ – which raised more than $75,000 for the cause – was inspired by his spinal-cord injury in 1989.
He would eventually build a series of local self-serve frozen yogurt shops.
His one marriage, in 1972, spawned four children.
