She was addicted to diet pills and prescription drugs.
Her pregnancy from boyfriend actor Andrew Prine ended in an illegal abortion (July 1963).
When her relationship with Andrew ended, she stalked him and his new girlfriend.
She died from a broken neck, which led to dispute over whether her death was accidental or a strangulation.
Her death has been linked to John F. Kennedy's assassination.

A few days before Kennedy's killing, a young woman phoned police to warn of the event.
Conspiracy theorists insist that woman was Karyn.
Her father, famed columnist Irv Kupcinet, vehemently denied she made the call.
The coroner who performed the autopsy was allegedly a drunk, whose findings are suspect.
The circumstances of her death remained unresolved.
