He has a career batting average of .260.
He is one of the most controversial inductees in the Baseball Hall of Fame because of his terrible offensive numbers.
During his Hall of Fame induction speech, he cried while making a case for 'defense in the Hall of Fame.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He played with one team for his entire career.
He was a great fielder, and one of the best-fielding second basemen ever.
His .992 season fielding average was one of the best in baseball history (1966).
He had 16 home runs and 82 RBI (1966). That's pretty good for a weak-hitting second baseman.
He is best remembered for his walk-off home run in Game 7 of the 1960 World Series.
That home run beat the Yankees and brought a World Series Championship to Pittsburgh.
He was the first player in baseball history to hit a walk-off home run in a deciding World Series game (1960).
