Basketball Coach
The Resume
(February 28, 1931- )
Coached University of North Carolina (1961-97)
Led UNC to two titles (1982, 1993) and eleven Final Fours
Coached U.S. men’s Olympic basketball team (1976)

Why he might be annoying
He has a humongous nose.
He was known for his boring ‘four corners’ offense, which consisted of keeping away the ball from the opponent until the clock ran out.
His two championships both ended in flukes. A wild errant pass ended his 1982 title game and the 1993 championship was decided by Chris Webber’s illegal timeout.
Even though he attended Kansas University, he was instrumental in UNC hiring Roy Williams away from Kansas.
He smoked.
His name sounds more like it should be for a college administrator, not a basketball coach.
Why he might not be annoying
He was a member of the Kansas Jayhawk team that won the 1952 NCAA title.
He was Michael Jordan’s college coach.
He held the record for most wins by a NCAA basketball coach (879).
His teams were very consistent, winning at least twenty games 27 consecutive years.
His innovative coaching methods, such as timeout management and the ‘tired signal’, have become standard practice.
He was one of the first coaches at a Southern college to actively recruit African-Americans.
