Murderer

The Resume

    (September 24, 1950-March 15, 2018)
    Born in Columbus, Georgia
Armed robber, rapist and serial killer
Known as ‘the Steakhouse Bandit’ after committing a series of robberies of restaurants
Convicted of armed robbery in South Carolina (1979)
Escaped from prison (March 15, 1984)
Arrested after another series of armed robberies (May 3, 1984)
Evidence found linking him to the ‘Stocking Strangler’ series of rapes and murders of elderly women in Columbus, Georgia, committed during 1977-78
Convicted on three charges of murder (August 26, 1986)
Sentenced to death (August 27, 1986)
    Executed by lethal injection

Why he might be annoying:

He was arrested multiple times for robbery, assault, and arson as a teen.
He would strangle his victims, usually with a knotted stocking, then beat and rape them as they were dying.
In addition to the three murders he was convicted of, he was a suspect in four additional murders in Columbus and at least three in New York state, where he had lived from 1970 to 1977.
DNA evidence linked him to the 1975 murder of Marion Fisher near Syracuse, New York (2007); local authorities declined to prosecute on the grounds that he would be too much of a flight risk if transported to another state.

Why he might not be annoying:

His father refused to take financial responsibility for him.
Growing up, he was frequently malnourished and would rummage through garbage cans for food.
He suffered serious head trauma when he was knocked unconscious in a playground accident during elementary school.
