He was among the first TV journalists to speak out against Joe McCarthy during the McCarthy communist hunts of the '50s.
Murrow was the most trusted news commentator of the '50s.
His outstanding quality was that the audience felt as though he was talking to them individually.
He was left handed.
The Edward R. Murrow Award is named in his honor.
