Why he might be annoying:

    His first year in the majors as a pitcher was a disappointment.
    He got the nickname 'The Crab' due to his aggressive attitude against sportswriters, rookies, opposing players and umpires.
    He refused to leave twice by ejection after arguing with an umpire in a doubleheader against the Louisville Colonels, leading to the Spiders to forfeit the first game and being escorted by police officers in the second game (August 4, 1897).
    He committed 383 errors as it resulted him having the all-time NL record for most errors by an outfielder.
    His batting average went into decline as he played in the AL.

    He was left handed in throwing and hitting.
    He hit 55 inside-the-park home runs in which is an all-time Major League career record.
    He was the first NL player to win two batting titles with a .400 batting average.
    He won a World Series ring as one of John McGraw's coaching staff with the Giants (1921).
    He had the season record of 240 hits until Ty Cobb surpassed it in the 1911 season.
    He is considered one of baseball's best players for bunting.
    He was the first player to come from West Virginia to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
